Sportsmanship One of the hallmarks of SpiritWars is the "family" atmosphere that it fosters. People are generally friendly, and play fair. Keep the following ideas in mind when the game seems stacked against you, and you have just lost your most prized spirit. Good sportsmanship makes for a better gaming experience for all concerned. It is typically considered polite to send your opponent a "gl" (good luck) when you first start the game. And when the game is over, a "gg" (good game) is also appreciated. Players do differ in their habits, so don't be offended if someone says nothing, or "tftg" (thanks for the game) instead. Sometimes your opponent will lose connection in the middle of a game. It is often hard to know whether your opponent did this on purpose or not. Generally, try to give them the benefit of the doubt. If you notice a pattern, you can report the behavior to Randy. ![]()
If you click on the Player Info button, you will see the number of disconnects your opponent has had while even, ahead, and behind in the game. Note that this number spans the player's entire career, rather than just their current population. If someone has a significantly higher percentage of aborts while losing, you may want to avoid them, at least until you are confident that won't happen to you. Similarly, you should never just abort a game with your opponent. If you forget to change your dungeon colors, send your opponent a message and see if they wouldn't mind you aborting to do so. It is their call. If something comes up and you have to quickly leave the game, you usually should concede to your opponent. Similarly, if you lose connection during the game and your opponent was pretty likely to win, it is considered good sportsmanship to offer your opponent a concede when you reconnect. If you do so, be sure to use the same dungeon you were using at the time you and your opponent played. |
