Installation Instructions:

The download program for SpiritWars is an Install Shield self-extracting installation program. Before running it, please uninstall any earlier version of SpiritWars that you have installed.  Use the Add/Remove programs control panel to remove the older installation.

If you have installed the optional large art files from the SpiritWars art CD, please back them up to another directory so that you don't have to download them again.  The new version of SpiritWars does not support the Version 1 Art CD.

If you don't REBOOT after the install, you are going to regret it. Please follow the instructions and reboot you computer when the installation is complete!  (The reboot is only required after the complete program installation -- there is no need to reboot your system when installing an upgrade or patch.)

SpiritWars® includes an automatic update system designed to keep the game files on your computer automatically updated and in sync with the server.

Note from Randy:  The new 3.0.0 version requires a new install by everyone NOT running Version 2.2.0 or higher!!!

If you have ANY version of SpiritWars prior to 2.2.0, uninstall it using the Windows Add / Remove programs, reboot, then install the new version.

Update Process Trouble Shooting: 
Here are a few tips on dealing with problems with the automatic update system.  Some people have reported isolated problems in having the update program complete the process.  So far, in all of these instances, if they close all other applications and manually run the Update.exe application, things take care of themselves.
